Many years had passed, “it seemed as though the farm had grown richer without making the animals themselves any richer-except, of course, for the pigs and the dogs.” On the contrary, “As for the others, their life, so far as they knew, was as it had always been. They were generally hungry, they slept on straw, they drank from the pool, they labored in the fields; in winter they were troubled by the cold, and in summer by the flies.” But they still appreciated their life because they were the only animals in England who are under animals’ control, except those old animals who still remembered the first rebellion. Old Benjamin also pointed out, “Things never had been, nor ever could be much better or much worse-hunger, hardship, and disappointment being, so he said, the unalterable law of life.”

Later, some more “interesting” thing appeared, pigs were walking on their hind legs. “ ' lovely' sheep even burst out into a tremendous bleating of – ‘Four legs good, two legs better! Four legs good, two legs better! Four legs good, two legs better!’ "

Before Benjamin never answered what was written on the wall which was written with “SEVEN COMMANDAMENTS”, but this time he read, however, there was claear only a single Commandment on it that was:

ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL

BUT SOME ANIMALS ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS

There were totally no difference between pigs and human beings. Who can tell who they are with what they wear, what they play, how they walk……

chaoter 9

Boxer tried his best to rebuild the windmill owning to he is to old to work as before, even he was deeply injured during the previous battle. On the other side, Napoleon was trying his best to build up his personality cult.

“Meanwhile life was hard. The winter was a cold as the last one had been, and food was even shorter.” With Squealer’s words “that made all the difference”, comparing with the days under Jones, even though nowadays the life was harsh and bare.

Above the surface, there were more freedom than before; under the surface, they had none exactly rights as the original idea of ANIMAL FARM described. Such as the electing a President, however, there was only one candidate who got a lot of power.

“Indeed, all the animals worked like slaves that year” For Boxer, what he want to do most is to see the new windmill, so he continued work without thinking of his old age. Finally, he fell down. When Napoleon got this news, he decided to send him to the “hospital”. Ironically, the words on the van which took Boxer to the “hospital” were “'Alfred Simmonds, Horse Slaughterer and Glue Boiler, Willingdon. Dealer in Hides and Bone-Meal. Kennels Supplied” which means to death. Right, the pigs sold Boxer to butchers. And one day, the pigs from somewhere acquired the money to buy themselves another case of whisky. Poor Boxer, his life was not as worthy as those drinks.

chapter 8

In the chapter the Napoleon began to abuse his power even more than ever, included changing nearly all of the “SEVEN COMANDAMENTS.”

In the previous chapter Napoleon had killed a lot of animals which had had against the commandment: “no animal shall kill any other animals” and it was changed into “no animal shall kill any other animals without cause.”

Besides, he treated himself as the most important figure in the farm. Such as separating his living place with other pigs, making those dogs whenever and wherever he was, renamed the new windmill as “Napoleon”. Moreover, he broke off he relationship with Foxwood, changed their slogan from "Death to Frederick" to "Death to Pilkington" which caused the fell into a biggest problem - the battle with Frederick. Facing the strong enemies, though they won at last, but in fact what they won was what they had before however, what they lost was the windmill which was build with 2 years had been destroyed which upseted Boxer very much owning he was too old to build the new one. Furthermore many animals were seriously injured and killed.

On the other hand, Napoleon thought it was a great battle and did an “excellent” job forgetting who caused the battle.

“It was a few days later than the battle that the pigs came upon a case of whisky in the cellars of the farmhouse.” then they began to drink it what’s more, Napoleon even dressed as human beings did at that day which broke No. 3 & 5 commandments which were “No animal shall wear clothes” ,“No animal shall drink alcohol.”and it was changed into "Noanimal shall drink alcohol to excess."

Fountain of happiness!

Lord of the swill-bucket! Oh, how my soul is on

Fire when I gaze at thy

Calm and commanding eye,

Full belly twice a day, clean straw to roll upon;

chapter 7

It was a great hard work for animals to rebuild the destroyed windmill which was double wider than before in order to show their strength. Besides, the days were seemly none of the grain could grow in anywhere. But Napoleon didn’t understand their pressure; on the contrary, he even announced that all of the eggs must be hand in which would cause them to death, so three of the hens tried to do opposite way to against this. At this time, Napoleon “ordered the hens' rations to be stopped, and decreed that any animal giving so much as a grain of corn to a hen should be punished by death. The dogs saw to it that these orders were carried out.”
So after five the hens held out and nine of them were died.

From now, animals still continued talking about Snowball, whether he was honor or not and where he was. Even though no one had seen Snowball exactly, but “whenever anything went wrong became usual to attribute it to Snowball”. Nearly most of the animals believed that, except Boxer and Clover. Until Squealer (who was always right there to explain Napoleon’s idea and make sense to the simple animals, the most useful person to support Napoleon’s decision, an excellent talker) announced it was all told by Napoleon, Boxer changed his mind with “If Comrade Napoleon says it, it must be right.” Obviously, Napoleon had become the represent of truth in simple Boxer’s mind.

However, just four days later, Napoleon came with 9 dogs with him and began to sent his dogs to bite all those animals who against his decision. And he even sent them to bite Boxer the most honor animal in the farm. And all those animals were hurt expect Boxer. Then all those animals were called upon to confess their crimes. Unbelievably, all them said what they done were all cause by Snowball. And what’s more after their confessing they were killed immediately. Obviously, it was a “tactics” which is cruel. But in simple Boxer’s eyes, “It must be due to some fault in ourselves. The solution, as I see it, is to work harder. From now onwards I shall get up a full hour earlier in the mornings.”

With Clover’s opinion now ANIMAL FARM was going further and further from they firstly expected. So even singing the 'Beasts of England' couldn’t cheer them up.

Lastly, the 'Beasts of England' was changed to another which was not as well as it did.

chapter 6

From this chapter, we can find a lot of ironic things. At the beginning they also thought they were just produce for themselves, not for "a pack of idle thieving human beings". So they were still pleased to do that. But it seems no differences between pigs and human beings.

1) "It was announced that from now on the pigs would get up an hour later in the mornings than the order animals" while all the other animals must work even much more than before or their food will be reduced by half.

2) "Never to have any dealings with human beings, never to engage in trade, never to make use of money--had not these been among the earliest resolutions passed at that first triumphant Meeting after Jones was expelled?" but, the pigs made up the decision that they will do business with neighboring farms only for certain materials not for any commercial purpose.


3) At the same time, pigs suddenly moved into the farmhouse and live there. However this had already against one of the rule of THE SEVEN COMMANDMENTS that “No animal shall sleep in a bed”. However, other animals could only live in where they were.

4) Before those owner of neighboring farms who helped to get Mr. Jones’ farm back only called this farm of “MANAOR FARM” but now when they do business here they all called it “ANIMAL FARM”.

Moreover what I want to mention is how could they made such big changes but none of the animals complained again. It was the word that works. Squealer always appeared at the right time to explain why and his words always made those animals with no words to argue owning to his most useful words – surely none of you wishes to see Jones back?

Besides, their hard work for windmill was destroyed by ranging south-west winds. This made the animals felt quite upset like a big crash did. Especially, for Boxer who devoted himself to this plan.“Clever” Napoleon announced that it was done by Snowball, from this way he could decrease the questions of the animals about what he done to Snowball but increase the faults of Snowball’s. What a “smart” leader he was!

chapter 5

Finally, Mollie disappeared owning to her attitude of using human beings’ things.

The most important thing was nothing could be done in the field, because the earth was like iron. Then a great debate began between Snowball and Napoleon. Of course they still got no parallel with each other. For my opinion, it is because they wanted to get higher position among the animals so that they never agree with each other. Snowball had read a lot of book which were about innovations and improvement. Then he suggested building a windmill that they would only take a little work but do much than before. Obviously, Napoleon strongly disagreed with it.

Later, Snowball had to do his plan on his own in a shed. Many animals appreciated his work. One day Napoleon came and urinated over the plans. When the day came which was to decide whether to build the windmill or not, Napoleon thought of Snowball’s words as nonsense, what’s more, he even asked those little dogs which had been forgotten to bite Snowball. In order to survive, Snowball left Animal Farm. “It was noticed that they ha wagged their tails to him in the same ways as the other dogs had been use to do with Mr. Jones.” Then Napoleon always got the dogs with him and announced that the meeting would be only held by pigs. The animals became doubted about it, then Squealer appeared and explain the new arrangement that Napoleon was just sacrifice himself for them, and he believe all animals are equal than anyone else, so he was just right there to make a better decision for the animals.

With Squealer’s words, Boxer added his believe with “Napoleon is always right.”

Ironically, several days later, Napoleon announced that the windmill plan would be held. Then Squealer appeared again to explain the reason why. He mentioned, in fact, Napoleon never opposed to this plan in his mind, and the plan was done by Napoleon not Snowball, and Snowball just stole Napoleon’s work. All in all it is exactly a “tactics, tactics”by great Napoleon. But Squealer’s persuasive explanation made the animals accept it even with no questions.
